Ronald Rosemeier, the founder and CEO of Brimrose

Ronald Rosemeier received his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University and began the company with funding from SBIR awards. Throughout the years, Dr. Rosemeier has actually developed two companies, Brimrose Corporation of America, which is the manufacturing arm, and BTC, which focuses on R&D. His early dream of creating a company that can take a product all the way from initial crystal growth through to final product is an ongoing reality.

Jolanta Soos, the Chief Technology Officer

Jolanta Soos is one of the founders of Brimrose. Her initial research was critical to the development of acousto-optics tunable filters, a core product of the company’s. She received her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Materials Science and Engineering. She also is Manager of Brimrose’s Acousto-Optics division and has written upwards of 15 publications in this area. She has led a team to design and fabricate the first single element, 2-D A-O laser beam deflector.

Sudhir Trivedi, Director of Brimrose’s R&D Division

Sudhir Trivedi was instrumental in the creation and development of Brimrose Technology Corporation, Brimrose’s associated R&D company.  He received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from the University of Baroda in India. He is considered an expert in the growth and characterization of thermos-electric and photonic materials and their applications and in the broader area of materials science. Dr. Trivedi has various patents to his credit and has authored or co-authored more than 175 papers.

Feng Jin, Senior Scientist and Director of Product Development at Brimrose

Feng Jin is involved with many of the technologies the company is developing. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2001 and has worked at Brimrose since then. At Brimrose, he has been engaged in novel applications of acousto-optics and high-performance solid state lasers. He has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers and been involved with various patents.

Priyanthi Amarasinghe, Senior Research Scientist at Brimrose

Priyanthi Amarasinghe received her Ph.D. from North Dakota State University in Geotechnical Engineering in 2009 and has worked at Brimrose since 2014. She is also an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College. She also has worked at the Naval Research Laboratory and Johns Hopkins University. She has authored or co-authored some 30 scientific papers.

Clayton Yang, Senior Scientist/Physicist at Brimrose

Clayton Yang received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Riverside in 2001 and has worked at Brimrose since 2017. His focus at Brimrose has been to design and construct rapid multiple array detection systems to capture visible NIR, mid- to long-wavelength IR emissions from laser-induced breakdown processes. He has designed and constructed a laser-based bio-sensing system using antibody conjugated up conversion nanoparticle fluourescent emissions. He also has worked extensively with the Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center (ECBC) at the Aberdeen Proving Ground to develop laser-induced breakdown designs.

Henry Chen, Senior Scientist, Radiation Detection 

Henry Chen received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1996. Henry’s entire career focus has been on semiconductor and optoelectronic materials. He has more than 25 years of experience in the fabrication and characterization of semiconductor and scintillator radiation detectors. He currently holds eight patents with three more pending. Before joining Brimrose, he worked at Redlen Technologies and Saint Gobain Crystals and Detectors where he held senior scientific positions.

Joo-Soo Kim, Senior Scientist, Crystal Growth/AR Coating

Joo-Soo Kim received his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama at Huntsville in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He is an expert in acousto-optic crystal growth and design, which is a core competency of Brimrose Technology Corporation. He has four patents to his name.  He has designed and built Brimrose’s Purification and Crystal Growth Systems. He also has developed various Anti-Reflection / Anti-Transmission Coating Technology for LWIR AOTF materials including various optical materials.

Ashok Kumar Meiyazhagan, Research Scientist at Brimrose

Ashok Kumar Meiyazhagan received his Ph.D. in Chemistry/Materials Science from the University of Madras in India. Prior to coming to Brimrose, he worked at Rice University in Texas. He has led projects involving the  fluoronation of two-dimensional (2D) materials, MXene synthesis, Chemical functionalization of Carbon and Boron Nitride, and 3D Polymer Printing. He is author or co-author of nearly 40 scientific papers and has been involved with the granting of five patents.

Witold Palosz, Senior Materials Engineer at Brimrose

Witold Palosz received his Ph.D. from the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, where he also served as an Assistant Professor. He has also worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and NASA Marshall Space Center. He has worked at Brimrose since 2006 where he has been involved in the nanoresearch of powders and ceramics. Most recently, his work  has involved the synthesis and characterization of crystal growth and characterization of colloidal quantum dots of II-VI materials.

Yingyun Liu, Senior Scientist and Biochemist at Brimrose

Yingyun Liu received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 2002. He has extensive experience in protein, virus, bacteria and drug discovery, including work he has performed at Johns Hopkins University. Among various technical accomplishments, he has prepared recombinant proteins from synthesized DNA sequences and measured protease enzyme activity against a compound library.

Susan Kutcher, Senior Scientist and Manager of Brimrose’s R&D Division

Susan Kutcher received her Ph.D.  from Johns Hopkins University.  She focuses on narrow bandgap semiconductors, which are used for the detection and modulation of IR radiation and wide bandgap semiconductors used in non-linear optical applications. She has an in-depth knowledge of materials preparation and the electrical and optical characterization of crystals.

Chen-Chia Wang, Senior Scientist at Brimrose

Chen-Chia Wang received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1995 in Electrical Engineering. He has studied moving space charge field effects in photoconductive semiconductors, which has resulted in the discovery of a new kind of photodetection scheme. He has served as the Principal Investigator on a number of Brimrose SBIR awards. He has been involved in four patents and has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers.
