R&D Contracting Programs
Brimrose Technology is a spinoff of Brimrose. With over 30 years previous accumulated experience, our dedicated R&D team partnering with our R&D partners have developed highly advanced spectral systems (both imaging and point detection) for a variety of manufacturing environments through the SBIR-STTR Programs. Recently, our R&D team has researched, developed, and matured technologies for the efforts listed below.
Brimrose Technology has introduced a new series of miniature AOTF SWIR Hyperspectral Imaging System IS510. This customer module is designed for SWIR spectral imaging and can be used for telescope or microscope applications. The AOTF imaging system with Brimrose synthesizer Electronics provides a narrow bandwidth, rapid wavelength selection, and intensity control.

Brimrose Technology has developed a low power, low bandwidth SPOT Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) operating in the LWIR region of the radiation spectrum specifically designed for the harsh environment in various applications. The Brimrose SPOT is a rugged sensor that utilizes Brimrose’s superior engineering background to remotely gather surveillance information. The SPOT is designed to be quickly deployed, gather data from active targets and pass it along to commanding forces via external controllers with wired/wireless connections or directly to a receiver via satellite.

Brimrose Technology has launched the HERO (Heli Engagement Reconnaissance Observatory) platform for in-flight surveillance to aid in numerous tactical and emergency applications. HERO has the potential to collect a wide variety of data using sensing and other data-gathering equipment. Some potential applications include active and passive target monitoring, crop monitoring, search and rescue, crowd control/monitoring, flood/fire disaster monitoring, and gas analysis.

Thermo-Electric Power Generation (TEPG) can be used to retrieve the waste heat emitted from automobiles, factories or other similar sources; and to promote the practice of green building. In a recent NASA contract we developed a novel growth technique and successfully produced single crystalline doped PbTe.

Presently, there is an increase need for materials that exhibit strong nonlinear absorption for various military applications. We have investigated Cd1-xMgxTe and Cd1-xMgxSe for their usefulness in Optical Switching applications. These materials have nonlinear absorption in the wavelength range from visible to NIR, and possibly extending to SWIR. The picture on the left shows Cd0.60Mg0.40Te Boule.

Brimrose Technology have demonstrated experimentally significant improvement in the sensitivity of Photo-Electro-Motive Force (Photo-EMF) laser vibrometers using pulsed-light sources. We investigated and improved the Photo-EMF Photosensors for their application in Laser Doppler Velocimetry. Brimrose developed the photo-emf pulsed VMS 2000/3000 laser vibrometer into commercial products as well as military research.

Brimrose Technology has successfully demonstrated a scanning photoacoustic spectroscopic (PAS) system fitted with a novel laser microphone for the remote scanning of targeted molecules and chemical compounds. The capability to perform standoff detection of targeted molecules and chemical compounds plays a strategic role in facilitating the planning and execution of various missions by the US Army.

Brimrose Technology has developed a novel room temperature operated, tunable, all solid-state mid-infrared laser. The pulsed laser employs undoped crystals of Cd1-XMnXTe as the lasing material.

Brimrose Technology has successfully developed a solid-state polycrystalline ceramic laser material using Nd:Yttria that can be used for remote sensing applications such as LIDAR and DIAL. Compared to single-crystals, ceramic laser materials offer several advantages with regard to ease of fabrication, shape, size, and control of dopant concentrations.
